RE: Dellanera RV Park in Galveston

Bumpy, it's hard to know from an ariel shot how much devestation there is, but looking at the before and after pictures there is a huge amount of damage done. You would have to have been there to really know what all existed ground level that pictures taken from above don't fully reflect. The beach no longer exists, and the sand dunes that seperated the campground from the beach area looks to be gone. The road leading into there is washed out and a large portion of the outer perimeter surrounding the sites has been washed away. It's questionable as to whether or not they will even be allowed to rebuild, with all the extensive beach errosion!

RE: Dellanera RV Park in Galveston

That's what's really sad!! Tourism is going to take a major hit. I looked further down the beach and the State Park campground is devestated as well!!

RE: Hurricane Evacuation

How right you are, Houtrz. While the low lying and coastal areas need to be evacuated first, followed by the ones that live along bayous and rivers and people residing in trailers further inland...the rest of the general population would fare better just staying in their homes. There's always a danger from falling trees, downed powerlines, etc., but you face that with lesser storms as well and really the likelyhood of anything bad happening is minimal outside the coastal areas where the storm makes landfall. Look at how many people suffered during the evacuation of Hurricane Rita, when they would have been better off staying home.
Yes it's going to get bad, there's going to be alot of cleanup afterwards from wind and water damage, I've been there, done that. I lived in Houston when Hurricane Alicia came thru, and it wasn't necessary to leave. We lost a couple of trees, our fence fell over but our home provided the safest place to be.
Oh, and by the way...my youngest son lives in Katy. He is going to hunker down and ride it out.

The poop machine is back in action, and the plumbing is functioning like it should for a 3 month old!! :B :B :B
All is going great! My daughter even had a chance to get out on her bike sunday and go for a short ride up in the mountains!
Prayers have been answered!!!

RE: Amelia's surgery - plumbing is back to normal..pg 6

Hi Cat! I haven't spoken with my daughter, which is a good sign! It means they are having a well deserved good weekend! Last we spoke, Amelia did manage to give them a little dirty diaper. Hopefully with the removal of Motrin and adding some prune juice she'll be able to potty more. Thank goodness she is wetting her diaper normally!

RE: Amelia's surgery - plumbing is back to normal..pg 6

Ok, Amelia went in for her follow-up exam yesterday and they said everything is fine. She's been on motrin since surgery which can cause constipation, so they are going to drop that and only give her tylenol as needed. Prune juice was also suggested, so Julie was right-on!
I guess I can take my worry hat off for now!!!

RE: Amelia's surgery - plumbing is back to normal..pg 6

Thank you for the suggestions. So far, with the exception of a little apple juice recommended for the constipation, she has only consumed breast milk. Apparently the apple juice hasn't worked, so maybe a little prune juice mixed with her mommy's milk will help. I will pass that theory along.
At this point Julie, if she has the same results you described, I don't think they would mind so much!

RE: Help with Ford truck

houtrz, JMHO the truck you're looking at has probably been wholesaled because no one wants to buy anything that guzzles gas/diesel right now due to high fuel prices. We went through that with my Dad's 2001 F250 Diesel Lariet. No one would touch it and we were to the point of wholesaling it when my BNL decided to buy it. It was in excellent shape too!!

RE: Amelia's surgery - plumbing is back to normal..pg 6

Well, it's now thursday and she hasn't been able to poo since monday. A call was placed into the nurse this morning and they still haven't called back. I guess a case of constipation isn't a high priority to them!!! :M While in the hospital, she required a suppository to have a BM. I don't think this is related to the anesthesia any more, so it has me concerned as to why she can't potty without help.
This Grammy is still worried! :R

RE: Amelia's surgery - plumbing is back to normal..pg 6

Spoke to my daughter today, and Amelia is having some issues with gas that is causing her little tummy to hurt about an hour after she eats. I hope that clears up soon. I'm thinking that this is just the 4th day since surgery and everything still needs to recover from the anesthesia.
Does anyone have any experience with babies post surgery, and any digestive problems? Any suggestions? They are giving her gas medication as well as alternating tylenol with motrin for pain control, but she still gets pretty uncomfortable after her meals.
My daughter went in to work (a little late this morning) and she is still so very tired. It just hurts my heart to not be there for them, helping out so they can get some rest.

Amelia came home from the hospital yesterday afternoon and is resting comfortably. Saturday after noon through sunday morning, she had a really rough time, was very uncomfortable and having a hard time going potty. Once everything woke up and started working, she felt much better. Her incision is about 5 inches long, which is quite a bit of realestate on a baby that's only 24 inches long from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet. :E Everything looks good tho, is working like it's supposed to and she is on the road to recovery. :B
Her Mommy and Daddy are very exhausted but happy she's doing so well, and want to thank everyone, along with me for your prayers.
Amelia will have to be checked every three months for the next 1 1/2 years, then every 6 months and finally once a year until she stops growing in her late teens. At any point until then, her cord could re-tether. I believe God has brought her through this with no permanent damage and has healed her and she is not going to have any more problems.
God is wonderful!!!
All of you are priceless treasures. Thank you again!

Tears flowing!!!
Me too, Vicky!!! Tears of joy, thankfulness, relief, etc.
Amelia will be kept pretty much sedated today and tonight, so at least for now she won't have to suffer any pain.
Poor little thing, I just hope tomorrow won't be too hard for her!

RE: Amelia's surgery - plumbing is back to normal..pg 6

Well, all is good!!! YAY!!! :B
The doctor said he couldn't have asked for better results. It was pretty dicey, his term, when he got to the base of the spinal cord because there was tissue up inside that he had to remove and excess fluid he had to drain but all of the nerves are functioning normally and he feels comfortable with her outcome. Dana will be able to hold and nurse her tomorrow.
God is soooo good!!!
Thank you all for praying for her today! God was clearly guiding the surgeon's hands thru all of this!
I will post again monday with an update of her post-surgery recovery and hopefully she will be released from the hospital then!!!

RE: Amelia's surgery - plumbing is back to normal..pg 6

Latest update.
I just spoke with my daughter, and Amelia is stable and handling the anesthesia well. They are having to do more lazer surgery than expected, so she is going to be in surgery for yet another hour.
I will re-post again when I hear more.

Amelia's surgery - plumbing is back to normal..pg 6

Well folks, we are in the final countdown. My 3 month old grandbaby, Amelia is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning at 8:45 MT to have her spinal cord de-tethered. Surgery is expected to last 3+ hours, depending on how much repair is required.
They are in Colorado, I am in Michigan. It's going to be a long day! :(
For all of you who have been praying for her, I will let you know how she's doing as soon as I hear!
